Customised EBT and CBTA - Concepts, Implementation and Oversight
Course content
Day 1 - EBT
This day will explain all the concepts and their background BUT will clarify where EBT and CBTA are the same
1. Introductions
2. How have we got to where we are today?
A short history of training in aviation covering the development of ATQP and EBT to explain where these ideas came from and what they are trying to do. We will look at the difference between conventional training and EBT/CBT
The EBT Building Blocks - in this section of the course we will look at the key components of EBT, what are they trying to do and how they relate to CBT
3. Competency Models and Assessment Frameworks - what do we mean by a competency model, how do you develop models, what is the difference between a model and an assessment framework? What is the EBT model? What do other pilot models look like?
4. Grading Systems - what is the difference between a competence model and grade scale, how are grade scales constructed, who are the stake holders in assessment? what problems do we have with grading performance?
5. Developing Scenario-based Training. What is the ‘data report’? What if I don’t have a data report? (bizjets, helicopters, type training), the EBT training topics and how they are used. Event/Approach clustering. Using the training topics in CBTA.
Instructor Training - What are the skills needed to be an Instructor, how do the skills differ between EBT modules, how do these skills transfer to CBTA situations.
Evaluation of Training Systems - what is evaluation? How do you do evaluation? Evaluation and ‘instructor standardisation’, Evaluation in EBT and CBTA.
Renewal and Revalidation - how should the process work under EBT
Day 2 - CBTA
The training lifecycle - how the various concepts change as you move from initial training though type training to refresher. What structures and skills do you need.
Instructions Systems Design (ISD) concept - ADDIE.
What are the stages of ADDIE, Applying ADDIE to KSA100 - How ISD fits with CBTA
Course Development. What is the Training Performance Standard (TPS) (graduation standard), the Operational Performance Standard (OPS)(proficiency v competency) and how do you bridge the gap (On-the Job Training (OJT))
Case study - Dangerous Goods and CBTA. How to audit a CBTA ground training product
Case Study - APS-MCC course
The Training Safety Case. Linking training to SMS
