Implementing an Alternative Training and Qualification Pgme (ATQP) - DO NOT USE

Course content

The following topics will be addressed:

  • An overview of structured training – a brief description of the components of a systems model of training.
  • The role of the Regulator – outlining the involvement of national authorities in implementing ATQP
  • Building the Safety Case – This essential component underpins the transition to an ATQP. We review the application of Safety Cases to the training situation and illustrate a possible structure.
  • The Task Analysis – The TA is the starting point for developing ATQP. In this session we look at the techniques of conducting a TA.
  • Assessing Crew Performance – In this session we look at testing, in general, and in the specific data gathering requirements required by ATQP.
  • Curriculum Development – This session looks at translating the TA into courses. We look at the issues surrounding defining training objectives, selecting training media and the allocation of resources to meet training needs.
  • Assessing System Performance – An overview of training evaluation with specific reference to the needs of ATQP and SC construction.
  • Staff Training and Standardization – In this session we look at the common core training requirements of instructional staff and check pilots. We will look at methods of measuring staff standardization.
  • Implementing ATQP – In this session we outline the project management skills needed to implement ATQP
     

Course prerequisites

Participants attending this course should have a broad knowledge of current regulations for initial and recurrent pilot training.
